Tactical Corner grew out of one frustration: football is mostly discussed through results and emotion, and least of all through what actually happened on the pitch.

Mission

The goal is simple: every analysis should leave the reader with one concrete tool for watching the next match. We do not write for licensed coaches, but not for complete beginners either — we write for the fan who knows the basics and wants to see the layer underneath.

• Every claim has to be verifiable on match footage.
• Never jargon without an explanation and that is why the glossary exists.
• A formation is a starting position, not a game plan. We analyse movement.

Author

Ivan Marić, a long-time analyst of amateur and youth football and author of tactical columns. Ten years of watching matches with a notebook in hand, five of breaking them down frame by frame. He runs workshops on reading the game for young coaches and fans.

What interests him most is what statistics do not show: the timing of the press, body orientation when receiving the ball, and how a team changes its plan after the first goal.
